Blessings {upon} Blessings

The other day, while I was driving to school early in the morning, I picked up on these few lines in a Mumford & Sons song "Awake my Soul,"

In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
Where you invest your love, you invest your life.

How true is that statement?!

It became so much more real to me this week, when I got some very exciting news. Seriously, I am a truly blessed woman, and there are so many things that I am grateful for. But this part just tops it off:

I got my DREAM job in my DREAM place! I can't express how excited I am!! I'm going to be a prenatal genetic counselor and I get to stay in Indiana with my family and friends. I got the call on Wednesday evening, and believe me, it answered so many prayers. I've put years of my life into this moment right here-- and it feels so great to have accomplished something that I've worked for.

I love love love everything about my life right now--

I have an amazing family: great husband, great parents, great siblings, and an absolutely great nephew :)

I have amazing, absolutely amazing friends and colleagues! They have been so supportive of me and encouraged me at times when the future seemed so uncertain. They have been there to congratulate me when things work out the way I planned for. And they've been there to teach me when things don't seem to be going the way I think they should- through love, through actions, through examples-- of how to be the best person I can be.

I can't wait to see how this part of my life turns out to be :)

Happy Easter everyone! Enjoy a time of renewal and rejuvenation, because we have been made clean!

Aunthood

My nephew arrived early this morning, at 3:03am.
He weighed in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and measured 19.25 inches long.
He's absolutely perfect in every way.  He's sweet, he's beautiful, he's cuddly.
I love him so much already.

Happy Birthday, little Anson.  Welcome to the world!

Retail Therapy

I'm usually a strong proponent for anything DIY for lots of reasons-- you can make everything the way you want it, it's usually less expensive than designer brands, and it's double the fun because you get to make it and you get to enjoy it later!

But then there's just some things you see that you feel like you have to have... and usually I'm a sucker for anything that looks vintage, has fabric, and incorporates a lot of color.  That's why I just had to have this table runner:

Isn't it amazing?? I love polka dots and mismatched patterned fabric!

Best part (seriously, I am the bargain queen)-- 35% off! Retail therapy and kitchen therapy, all at one low price :)

It goes great with my curtains made from Amy Butler Full Moon Polka Dot fabric, my coordinating green polka dot oven mitts, orange dish rags, and green coffee mugs from Target, and my Crate & Barrel teapot towel that hangs over the oven door.

This week, I feel like we moved towards being "real adults."  I took my graduate school exit exam (and passed!!) and presented my thesis--- only a few more weeks till graduation!  I got a second interview for my dream job, which makes it seem so real.  Derrick got some interviews for companies across the nation, and is looking forward to many of them!  Also, we decided not to release our house for the next year.  It was a tough decision, we have loved our first place, but we hope to move closer to jobs.  And while it may seem super silly, I always feel like a home decor purchase or upgrade always puts us one step closer to buying and living in our first real home!  :)

And if I had my dream kitchen right now, these things would be incorporated: white cabinets, stainless steel appliances, dark stained recycled hardwood floors, and bright pops of color.

a random blog post for this first weekend of April, but it sure is exciting to dream about the future ;)
